The Ganges and the Lotus: How purity exists within the mud

The Ganges and the Lotus

You have seen the videos. India, the Ganges river, the chaos, the colour, the dirt, the bodies, the offerings, the ash. And the comments underneath, confusion, discomfort, sometimes disgust.

How can something sacred look like this?

How can something Divine be so messy?

How can the Ganges be both holy and filthy at the same time?

It is the same question asked about the lotus. A flower of extraordinary beauty and purity growing directly from mud. Rooted in darkness, emerging as Light.

And it is the same question, if we are honest, that most of us ask about ourselves.

How can I be pure? How can I be Divine? Look at what I think, look at what I do, look at what I have done. Look at what I carry, look at the mud I have come from and the mud I sometimes return to.

We have been taught, quietly, persistently, without anyone having to say it directly that purity looks a certain way. Clean, controlled, bright. Perhaps thin or composed. Radiating something that does not sweat or struggle or get it wrong.

Cleanliness is next to godliness. We absorbed that.

But the Ganges does not agree, and neither does the lotus. And neither does the Light at the center of you.

What you do does not define what you are, what you think does not define what you are.

What you have survived, created, destroyed, avoided, repeated, regretted, none of it touches what you intrinsically are.

At the center of every human being, underneath the behavior, beneath the story, under the wound, the pattern and the accumulated weight of a human life, there is a point of Light, powered from Source.

Irreplaceable.

Not because you earned it. Not because you cleaned yourself up sufficiently. Not because you finally became the version of yourself that deserved it.

It was placed there before you arrived.

It has been burning since before you had a single thought or made a single mistake or carried a single thing you wish you had put down sooner.

The mud did not extinguish it, and neither did the mess. The years, the wounds and the very human and sometimes very ugly experience of being alive did not extinguish it.

They dimmed it, they blocked the channel through which it moves. They made it harder to feel, from the inside and harder to see, from the outside. But they did not touch what it actually is.

You are pure and Divine not because of what you can become, but because of what you are.

There are no conditions attached to that. No threshold to cross. No version of yourself you must first achieve.

The Ganges is sacred not despite what flows through it. The lotus is pure not despite the mud it grows from and you are a Being of Light not despite your humanity.

The Light does not wait for the mud to clear before it burns. It burns in the mud. It has always burned in the mud. It will keep burning until the mud clears enough for you, and everyone around you, to finally see it.

That is what The Loop clears the way to.

Not a better version of you.

The one that was always there.
