The Distance Between You and Source

There is something most spiritual teachings do not say directly.

The distance between you and Source, the gap you feel when you meditate, when you reach for something larger and find only your own thoughts, that distance has a precise measurement.

It is exactly the distance between you and the person you despise most. Not the criminal, not the monster. Start smaller than that.

The person who has done nothing to you personally. Who you simply cannot warm to, whose face, whose type, whose existence makes something in you contract, quietly, automatically, before you have even decided to.

The person whose politics make you feel they are not quite fully human in the way you are. The race you were taught, not with words but with silences and distances, to keep some part of yourself away from. The class you look at from above or below with the subtle superiority or resentment you have never fully examined because it arrived before you could question it.

That contraction, that closing, that quiet but absolute refusal to include them in your sense of we.

That is the distance between you and Source. Not a metaphor. The same mechanism, the same wall.

The light and the shell

But here is what needs to be understood first. Because without this distinction, everything that follows is misread.

There are two things happening simultaneously inside every human being.

There is the Light.

At the center of the chest, the fragment of Source that was placed there before arrival. The point of Light that has been burning since before the first breath and will burn after the last. This part of you is not separate from Source, has never been separate from Source, cannot be separate from Source. It is Source , a specific, frequencied, irreplaceable expression of Source's own power, placed inside the human form and running continuously from the center of everything.

The Light is already one. Already inside Source, already unified with every other Light in every other human Being. That has never changed. It does not need to be restored. It does not need to be earned. It simply is.

And then there is the shell.

The human system, the personality, the conditioning. The programming that formed around the Light after arrival, through childhood, through culture, through the long human inheritance of fear and division and the thousand ways a human learns to define itself by what it is not.

The shell is where the separation lives.

Not in the Light. The Light has no walls, the light makes no distinctions. The light does not have a contempt reflex or a tribal allegiance or a quiet closing toward certain types of people.

The shell does.

And the shell experiences its programming as reality. As the truth of how things are. As justified, as simply the way the world works.

What Source actually is

Source is not selective.

This is almost impossible for the shell to fully receive, because the shell was built on selection. On distinction. On the fundamental act of separating this from that, us from them, inside from outside. The shell creates identity through division. It always has. It is how the human system organises itself, protects itself, finds coherence.

But Source does not have an in group.

Source does not close toward anything. Does not have a category of Beings it finds difficult to include. Does not make the distinctions the shell makes, of race, of class, of gender, of nation, of political position, of aesthetic preference, of the thousand fractures humanity has invented to create belonging by defining exclusion.

Source is the totality. Not as a concept, as a structural fact. Everything that exists is within Source. Every human Being, every light inside every shell, however different the shells, however incompatible the programming, is within Source.

You are within Source, and so are they.

There is no arrangement in which you can be fully at one with Source while another human Being is outside it. Because Source does not have an outside.

Shell to shell

The person you despise, look at them for a moment with this understanding.

Their Light is the same Source as yours. Same fragment, same origin, same unity underneath. At the level of what they actually are, beneath the shell, beneath the programming, beneath everything the human life layered over the original Light, they are already one with you. Already inside the same Source, already held in the same vast creative darkness that holds everything.

The separation you feel toward them is not Light to Light. It is shell to shell.

Two human systems, two sets of programming, two shells carrying their conditioning, their inherited fears, their tribal allegiances, their walls, facing each other and experiencing the distance between the walls as fundamental. As the truth of who they are. As irreconcilable difference.

But it is not the Light that is different. It is only the shell.

And the shell is not what you actually are. It is what formed around what you actually are.

The separation humanity lives

The human life is a never-ending creation of separation. Gender. Class. Race. Nation. Continent. Religion. Political party. The school you went to. The accent you carry. The way you dress. The God you pray to or refuse to pray to.

Endless division, each fracture creating an identity by defining what it is not. Each wall making one group more real, more valid, more human and another group slightly less.

This is not evil, it is human. The shell is built this way. The tribal instinct, the in group loyalty, the subtle or not so subtle closing toward the other, these are not aberrations. They are the programming. Running in every shell, in every culture and in every era.

But this programming is also precisely what creates the distance from Source.

Every wall the shell builds between itself and another human Being is a wall between itself and the unity that Source is. Every contraction, however justified it feels, however culturally endorsed, however dressed as values or preference or simply common sense, is a narrowing of the channel through which Source can be felt.

The shell that divides cannot simultaneously experience the unity it is dividing against.

The contempt you have not examined

Most people who walk a spiritual path have done significant work on the obvious wounds. The family patterns. The childhood programming. The beliefs formed around survival.

But the social contempts, the ones shared by the group, that feel like common sense rather than prejudice, dressed as values or reasonable distinctions, those tend to go unexamined.

Because they feel righteous, or simply like preference.

The quiet closing when a certain type of person enters the room. The subtle downgrading of someone's worth based on how they vote. The comfortable distance from a class or a race or a gender that was installed so early and so completely that it does not feel like contempt at all.

This is where the real work is.

The person you would never harm. Would, without examining it, not fully include in your sense of we. Not fully open toward, not fully receive as belonging to the same essential reality as you.

That one.

That is where the shell is maintaining the distance from Source most efficiently. Because it is so invisible. So endorsed. So ordinary.

This is not about forgiveness

I am not speaking about forgiveness.

Forgiveness is between you and a specific person who did something specific to you. That is real work and it matters (for some… I do not believe in forgivenesss…).

This is different.

This is about the structural contraction that exists before any specific person has done anything. The pre existing closing, the inherited distance. The division that says, consciously or not, that some human beings are more within the circle of your we, than others.

Forgiveness asks: can you release what was done?

This asks something harder: can you see the wall that was never about what was done? The one built before you met them. Built from culture and fear and the long human habit of creating identity through exclusion.

Not to tear it down immediately. Not to perform an openness you do not actually feel. But to see it, to recognise it as programming. As the layer that sits between your Light and theirs, and mistakes itself for reality.

What the work actually is

To return to Source is not to transcend the human.

It is to clear the shell enough that what is already one, the Light within you and the Light within them, can begin to be felt as one.

Not through forcing yourself to feel warmth you do not feel, not through spiritual performance.

Through the honest examination of every wall. Every contraction, every quiet closing toward another human Being. Starting small, starting with the person who has done nothing to you, who you simply cannot fully include.

Can you feel where the shell contracts?

Can you see it as programming, not as truth, not as justified perception, but as the inherited code of a human system doing what human systems do?

And can you sense, underneath that contraction, however faintly, the Light that has no wall? The part of you that is already one with the Light inside the person your shell cannot include?

That sensing, that faint recognition, that, is the beginning.

Not the dissolution of all separation in a single moment. But the seeing of the shell for what it is. And the remembering, again and again, in layers, of what was always underneath it.

The Light was never separate.

Only the shell forgot.

Namaste.

The Light in me recognises the Light in you.

It always has.

The shell just forgot.
